		<description>In Texas, it&#039;s based on the NEIGHBORHOOD.  You can go several blocks and see 0.5% change in taxes, based on things like utility districts, school districts, and so on.

We have a Sun City about 35 miles north of Austin.  I think they are able to opt out via age exemptions AND school exemptions. The community is age-restricted (55 and up), so there are no elementary or middle schools.  The area high school (Georgetown) serves Sun City.  Since school taxes are such a big part of Texas property taxes, it&#039;s a big break.</description>

		<description>Well, in Arizona property taxes are based on the City you live in rather than the state itself. In Mesa, AZ there are no property taxes. I think it may be the same in Sun City (retirement town). They find a way to opt out of most taxes.</description>
