Yesterday, the Austin Business Journal reported that The Domain’s next phase of development will be open early next year.  If you’ve driven down Braker Lane lately, you’ve seen Dillard’s going up.  The new phase also includes a “438-unit second phase of apartments…. Units range in size from 526 to 1,870 square feet, with rental rates from $800 to $2,000 a month.”

The first phase of apartments, which has been open about two years, is The Residences at the Domain.  It has 390 units — studios, 1-bedrooms, and 2-bedrooms.  I’m seeing rents starting at about $900, though  the  property’s website advertises a $773 1-bed/1-bath.

The second phase, to be called The Villages at the Domain, will include options like hardwood floors and yards.  Also, they’re installing a  saltwater pool for the complex. Nice!

Personally, if I were still a single, young professional, I’d give The Domain a hard look.  The developers have created quite a comfortable, well-designed space to live and play.
